This week's poll asks:

Is it time to end the whole claims process?

Quote:
*The only way Pakeha are going to extract themselves from this mess that they have allowed themselves to get trapped in is by FORCE OF ARMS. The 3rd Maori Wars! Europeans have lost the high ground because of the left wing PC policies of guilt that have been foisted onto them by the superior Maori Propaganda Machine. We are in a similar position to the Israelis dealing with the never ending demands and threats of the Palestinians. Brian

*No more payouts. the whole process appears to have fueled by greed and driven by radical maori. Rick

*Of course the one person ( & party ) you can blame for all this nonsense is NATIONAL party M.P. CUR.(sir!!!!!!?????) Douglas Graham. He was the most appeasing of ALL the appeasers. Remember him???? Dave

*For God's sake abolish the process before they dream up new ways of extracting more from taxpayers. Pat

*The claims process will continue while white gutless liberal politicians continue to do nothing. Vern

*It is way past the time to end all Treaty Settlements, in fact they should have been seen for what they truly are as soon as the first one went to court (a gravy train for the leeches of society). Stop and think for a minute what could have been achieved if all the money spent on ‘treaty settlements’ including all the costs associated with the treaty claims (lawyers, judges, travel, accommodation, years of work, expenses etc) had been put to good and proper use, ie Education, Health, care for the Aged and Infirm etc etc there would be enough left over to supply daily breakfasts and lunch for every school kid in NZ. Labour and Phil Goff appear to be in a no win situation going into this years election, they must know this, what better time to grow some ‘nads, take the bull by the horns and go for the jugular, by announcing a new policy that they would enact within the first few months of becoming the Government … (1) Abolish the Maori seats. (2) finish negotiations and reject all unsettled treaty claims. (3) no more treaty claims accepted; ever (4) Initiate a full, open, and very thorough investigation into the Littlewood Treaty with full public disclosure, if history is proven to be wrong ….. so be it. What has Labour got to lose, even National would gain, no-one would never have to pander to the Treaty b/s ever again. Surely a win win for every NEW ZEALANDER. Tony

*Time to sack the claims politicians too. Mike

*It's now a Govt legitimised rort. Graeme

*We (taxpayers) are being taken for suckers by a powerful iwi leaders who have the politicians in their pockets. Carol

*But how do we do it? John

*The Treaty process is like an army of sap sucking insects debilitating a plant. The State is the plant. It must stop. Peter

*When will enough be enough? In another 200 years the payouts they are getting will seem paltry and it could start again!!! It is time for us all to be one people. Rosemary

*New Zealand has been held to ransom by unjust and contrived claims that were never intended. The terms of Treaty have been manipulated to justify continued calls on the Taxpayer. Peter

*The gravy train has gone on long enough. For goodness sake where are the politicians with the nous to shut it down? Bruce

*It is time we had some honesty from government. Finlayson should go. Max

*How much more is the taxpayer going to be ripped off. Shirley

*Work for your money don't beg. Dennis

*We get what we deserve. John

*It should have ended long ago. There are very few true Maoris so why do we have to give and keep on giving to anyone claiming to be a Maori just because an ancestor married one? Mary

*Absolutely Yes, its definitely time we were all treated as one nation...stop this gravy train and its NOT Maori bashing either its just commonsense to get the country into one nation...won't be easy because what has been given is always hard to take back. We cannot change the past and to keep looking back is absolutely no good for any country. Audrey

*It will never end until there is nothing left to claim for. I feel no patriotism towards NZ at all. Everyone is fed up and yet they just sit back and let it happen. Why are the news media not printing on their front page what this Government is doing. No one cares as they will vote National and Labour as they dont want to lose the handouts they are receiving. I returned from Bangkok today, I found it clean and peaceful and not what I expected. I came home wondering just which is the 3rd world Country. Them or us. They are pleasant, hard working people. No benefits and handouts there, and the people look a lot happier than I feel with the way NZ is going. Chris

*Should have been stopped 5 years ago at least!!! June

*Thank you for keeping us enlightened - it makes rather depressing reading. Faye

*No more payouts, when people came to NZ maori had there hands out and now 100 years on or so hands are out for more, say no. Owen

Hear, hear, Monica. I totally agree with you right down to singing the anthem in English. It's not as if some don't know English - everyone does but many don't know Maori and have no intention of ever learning - like me.

Yes, yes, also to using any monies set aside for fraudulent Treaty claims for Christchurch. We must stop looking back and start going forwards. This nonsense on a grand scale is infecting the wellbeing of our country.

'The colossal programme of confidence men, accompanied by carefully-judged doses of hard luck stories, flattery and menaces' is the brilliant deduction of David Round.

As Francis Bacon once wrote, "nothing doth more harm to a state than that cunning men be taken for wise".
I say the low cunning of the savage which people like Pita Sharples seem to be effectively running the country behind the so-called Prime Minister who has no vision for a unified New Zealand. When will the rule of law be applied to the rampant maorification of New Zealand and always referring to the past? When will the racists wake up to the future like the rebuilding of our second-largest city, Christchurch to which all Treaty monies should be directed to instead as, from today, it is costing the country twice what was estimated?

I'm so tired from feeling outraged at the latest expose of the Maori largess from the taxpayer via the cynical govt, visionless PM, and the arrogant Mr Finlayson.

Oh and if NZ wants to win the RWC, sing the National anthem in English!

*My Dad used to say, "there is none so blind as he who can not see"...how come theycannot see this great injustice to the NZ Poeple as a whole.Unbeleivable...Max

*We should have said "no" long ago. I am in favour of becoming a republic and scrapping the treaty. Desmond

*I have said this for years but govts seem not to have the moral courage and fortitude to say "No" so to hell with the rest of us. Of course to say "No" would be racist would it not. Laurent

*It is crazy that a greedy elite can largely invent grievances and can be given vast parts of the county. Have the politicians got rocks in their heads? Thomes

*We have been suckers for to long why should a less than 50% Mario be robbing there own Doug Graham is going to have to answer to a lot some time. Russell

*They must be full and final. David

*IF as most of us were led to believe when our P.M. John Key said "He wanted New Zealand to be One People and One Country" we should of asked whom he wanted this to be many of us would never have voted for him nor his Party. As time has progressed we now know whom he was favouring. I have been a National Supporter all my voting years but can no longer trust the Party too many lies and untruths. No Matter how much is said this will not be the last of the Treaty Claims this is already the 3rd and final
settlement and its on and on. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH STOP IT. MARYLIN

*If this process continues NZ society will be irreversably destabilised, with long term serious -and possibly violent- consequences. Lech

*It is time for one country, one people and same rule of law for all the people. Ken

*How can we? Already the general apathetic public are convinced that handing over resources to Maori is acceptable.
By the time they realise the implications, it will be impossible to rectify. Certainly so in writing a Constitution for ALL New Zealanders. The politics here are the same as for Europe; in that their leaders have already accepted that Islam will rule.
Both National & Labour also have surrendered to radical Maori.
Appeasement will have a price, although not until after the World Cup. Brian

*The Maori lost the war...How many times can we be expected to pay for the land? They were paid fair values at the time...and have they paid the Moriori compensation? Sandra

*The Maori gravy train keeps chucking as there is no final railway station on this track. Reverse racsism at its worst. Eelco

*Many people are not aware this is going to have implications for all our children and childrens children lets get more people interested in what is happening in regard to these treaty settlements. Barrie

*Only about 140 years too late. But, it will never happen, because Key doesn't have any bollocks to stand up to the filthy brown savages. Mark

*Maori will own NZ if this continues, but the glib & smiling John Key ignores the rest of the population's rights as he creates new problems eg indigenous Rights & Foreshore & Seabed Legislation etc and he seems to dissociate himself from the issues that need attention leaving people in charge like Chris Finlayson. He (JK) does nothing to address the issues of endless injustice to the tax payers whose property, land money & rights he is giving away, while the country is being ruthlessly bled by corporate Iwi.
Colleen

*Abso-bleeding-lutely it is. Just like Topsy - it grows - but, unlike Topsy - it grows exponentially. It needs closing-down NOW. Ron

*I hope Don Brash is reading your report Muriel because without ACT getting sufficient seats at the next election there is no hope of this corrupt process being stopped. At the very best Key and Finlayson are naive and gutless and simply cannot say no to Maori demands...at the worst they are totally corrupt and complicit in this carve up. What really gets me is that the public are unaware of just what is happening and of course the media being trendy lefty and socialistic in their aims, will not publisise any part of this huge rip off. New Zealand badly needs a journalist of courage to publish a full history of this shameful rip off. It's pleasing to see Mike Butler putting together the publication he has but I fear that it will not be widly disseminated. With the election rapidly approaching it needs for Don Brash to highlight just how corrupt this whole process is. I am sure that the vast majority of caring, tax paying Kiwis will support ACT in putting a stop to this rort. Without ACT having sufficient leverage in the next Parliament, there really is no hope. Ronmac

*It is very long overdue for extinction. Now that the maoris are so rich at our expense, why doesn't any government make them pay for their own health, education legal and welfare etc etc. instead of continuing to bludge off non maori. Grahame

*Actually, it should have ended about 20 years ago. It will never end, except in the very long term - but only because by then NZ will have become, in essence, Maori land once more. Maori will become the prime language, Maori laws and customs will take precedence and the Maori elite will rule. There will be original Maori, 'white' Maori, 'Asian' Maori, etc. The concept of a kiwi or a New Zealander will be long forgotten. Only then will Treaty settlements stop. No Government has ever had the guts to ask non-Maori what they think and feel about the Treaty process. With any luck I will be dead and buried by then ... and I'm pretty sure my descendants will all be living somewhere other than this country - whatever it is called then. Gary

*It is about time they stood on their own two feetlike I had to when immigrating to this country. Margaretha

*They need to help themselves and not look for handouts. Terry

*Long overdue - should never have been started in the first place!!!!! Henry

*It has to happen if we are to prevent rebellion in the near future. the MORIES are bleeding this country dry & they are the most OVER-priviliged race in this world. Mollie

*National are extremely weak and Maori know it. Key's election promises are not worth the paper they are written on Maori will take little notice of his election pledges knowing full well they can turn him round at will. Ask Maori what they want and no matter what Key says to the public their wishes list will be at the top of the list. It amazes me so few people recognise his deceit and deceptive statements. Stealth will be uppermost. The public's memories are extremely short. Colin

*The Gravy train must stop. NZ is rapidly introducing apartied by stealth. Brian

*It's many years past the time. Graeme

*How is this robbery of the New Zealand public being allowed to continue and who is behind it. What are the names of the politicians and maoris that are robbing New Zealand? Neil

*Yes time to stop but how do you get any goverment to stop, they just want votes, do away with the Westminster system & get good busines people to run the country then thinks will happen, why do we need polici parties all they can do is cause problems we need people who will run the Country to benefit the people. Geoff

*One New Zealand with equal rights for all. Has no one got the intestinal fortitude to bring this fiasco to an end? Mark

*Can't keep living in the past. Lets look forward to the future as a nation united. Cheers. Rex

*Immediately in the case of entities that have already received some settlement. Assess current claims from others for validity of uninterrupted ownership of substantive grievance and then close the Waitangi Tribunal. Gordon

*One would like to know what will, or is intended to, trigger the end of the settlement process. At the present rate there soon should be no underfunded, downtrodden Maori left to benefit from futher handouts. So, will we then have settlements to bring the underfunded and downtrodden taxpayers up to Maori standards? Randall

*An end to the settlement gravy train is LONG overdue. Maurice

*All details need to be revealed so that the magnitude of this rhort is public knowledge. Simon

*It should never have got anywhere near this far! Terry

*The process should have finished years ago. KEVIN

*The sooner this Shit ends, the better off the Country will be. Graham

*Tainui seems to be only helping the 'elite' of the tribe ... definitely about money - not mana! Ali

*Where do I start?? Theft on a grand scale. Mike

*It's strange that the government can always find money for maori settlements but when it comes other issues there never is enough. The country is broke we cannot continue along this path of paying out large settlements to Maori. Time to stop now... Astrid

*Please end this gravy train rubbish, the country cannot afford it.. Colleen

*Absolutely and get the tribes to pay back to the Crown what has been given to them illegally. Frank

*The whole treaty claims are out of date. Terry

*Enough is enough! This government has cuddled up to the Maoris and given them far too much - at the taxpayers' expense! But what government will be brave and foresighted enough to put a stop to the Treaty gravy train? Certainly not this one, it seems!! Election promises get easily changed when the party gets into the government benches. Laurence

*Should never have been started in the first place. Can't see most of - for instance - Europe - being paid out for being taken over in the past. Sheila

*Definitely, and way past time! John

*I continue to be amazed that the average New Zealander remains apathetic about the whole Treaty claims issue. If New Zealanders don't react soon we'll all lose basic rights to more than just the Foreshore and seabed. Would this process be tolerated in other countries, or is it just us Kiwis that are mugs? Wayne

*Yes, the whole 'claims' process has to be stopped NOW. Its is simply unaffordable and is a heavy mill-stone around the NZ economy's neck. Bruce

*The time has long since passed! Barrie

*The claims process should have been ended years ago! As the political and economic rape of this nation continues unabated, I am left with the horrifying but certain belief that it will culminate in growing extremism and eventually civil war. As always throughout history, the apathetic sheeple majority will only wake up when it is too late for peaceful resolution and instead will be subjected to violent revolution. Time to get out of Dodge? Robert

*It should have been closed off years ago - it is such a rip off it is not funny. Keith

*Put an end to racial seperatism. Kerry

*It's a massive rip off and should be stopped. Michael

*Yes it is. The whole issue of compensation for Modi is a scam!!! I have never seen a list of the wrongs that were perpetrated by us "white M.F.'s" on them. Sure there were confiscations of the only thing they valued (land) for their murders,a priest at TeKaha & the Gillfillan family at Okoia in Wanganui etc etc etc. In my opinion they got off lightly!!! If the French had gotten control of NZ, as VERY nearly happened, poor Modi's probably would be in the same position today as Tahitians in Tahiti or the Kanak's in New Caledonia!!!!!
Of course the true, almost, indigenous peoples who deserve compensation are the Mori Ori's & that compensation should come from the Modi's who murdered, ate & enslaved them almost into oblivion!!!!! STOP THIS SCAM NOW BEFORE N.Z. IS BANKRUPTED COMPLETELY!!!!!! Dave

*It is absolutely time we ALL moved forward...build a bridge and get over it! As the saying goes....We Are ALL in This Together...Cathy

*There was never a time for it to start. The Treaty is invalid, Maori have re-written it, the "white" people are no longer bound by it. I say, let's go back to the way it was: they kill each other, eat each other, and play endless rounds of Utu, living in poverty and squalor; the rest of NZ gets on with living and ignores the "savages". Oh, and when will Maori be compensation the "white" people for all the settlers they murdered, raped & pillaged? And when will the Moriori be getting their compo for genocide by the Maori? Perhaps the Moriori should be making a retro-active case for crimes against humanity in the Hague? :-P Peter

*Wipe them completely. We just cannot afford it. There are people needing serious medical help in this country that are not being treated because of lack of funds, yet the govt has all this money to throw at a few greedy rich fat cat bottom feeders called lawyers and Iwi Trusts. Stop paying out or accepting any claims and cease all current claims immediately, then maybe we as a country may have a chance to get back on our collective feet. Wendy

*2014 must be the absolute end. Do our politicians have the guts to follow their words? Time alone will tell!! Chris

*How many full and final settlements do they need?! Its time to become united not divided! Andy

*There needs to be a final cut off date, say 2015. Otherwise it could drag on for generations. Bruce

*The treaty claims and the ETS will ruin this wonderful country big time. Mike

*Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes. End it now and forever. Kevin

*Why has nobody got the guts to stop this rort. Mark

*And find a way to force them to pay rates on multiple owned properties. Stan

*Should have been done over 100 years ago. Chief Justice Prendergast ruled the treaty null void. Bill

*Most certainly. This issue just goes on and on and will keep going on whilst we have weak politicians who are not prepared to make a stance. I am sure we all know where the money would be better spent for the betterment of all New Zealanders. Gary

*But we will need a revolution to achieve it as no party will give us the democratic rights. John

*Enough's enough...this is becoming ridiculous. Peter

*It has gone on far far too long and is based on openly ficticious basis. David

*The whole treaty business has become corrupted by greed and cover ups. I can't understand why we the public have let this go for so long now! Denis

*NZ belongs to all NZers - equally. We're in the 21 century now. Sarah

*A resounding yes!! They should never have been started in the first place because it is just one big giant fraud. It's long overdue for it all to be exposed but for some reason our Press are so weak that we can't expect to read anything from that direction. Heads should roll in political circles and the public are just as bad for allowing themselves to be duped and going along with it. B+H

*Definitely it should never been allowed in the first place it is a measure to divide the country. Clark

*How long do we have pay these endless processes? Sonia

*Greed grred, that terrible greed, there's nothing quite like it, the Iwi will rort it, until we say enough is enough. Maggie

*Settlements are a scandal. They are driven by greed and lies. The process MUST be ended. Brian

*Right here and now: the money doews not get to the poorest among Maori, that is blindingly obvious, so "there's a leak in your bucket, dear Hone, dear Hone..... Eneka

*Latest advert on TV, Iwi leader "this is our time now to claim"
With huge grin!
Enough said. Peter

*I believe any Party who openly supports the End of Claims will win the election. Barry

*We as a country can't afford to keep giving our heritage and money to the non stop greed of the Maori elite. Nigel

*Sorry, it's too late. Daniel

*The proper time to end it was before it began!! Some day there must be a backlash against this travesty of justice!! Jim

*The Maori Storytelling states that the Maori race came here from somewhere else SO THEY ARE NOT THE PEOPLE OF THIS LAND and should be receiving NOTHING. Dan

*It should have been closed off years ago - it is such a rip off it is not funny. Keith

*The claims process is not achieving anything but dividing the people of our country. As has been detailed in researched blogs on NZCPR it is only the elitist Iwi that are benefiting. Working NZers are struggling to support their families and keep their house holds afloat. Trina

*Actually, it should have ended about 20 years ago. It will never end, except in the very long term - but only because by then NZ will have become, in essence, Maori land once more. *Long overdue. Lindsay

*This has gone on for far too long. Clive

*Long past time - but where is the political will? Few MPs would want the process to end - so whose representing the public? Brian

*There is no such thing as "Maori." There are only miscegnated Anglo-Maori who identify culturally as "Maori" -- for the warm glow of belonging to a supposedly "oppressed" people -- and of course for the money! Reuben

*Yes, but I don't believe anything will change as not enough New Zealander's really care as it is not affecting them directly (yet). John

*Key and Finlayson (a list MP) shoould be hung, drawn and quartered. What is the power these 'natives' have over the Politicians? How do we stop a money hungry bunch of Maori and these stupid Politicians from betraying the rest of us, who don't seem to matter. What management expertise do these iwi have? No wonder people are leaving NZ in droves. I am angry and frustrated. Carolyn

*What a disgrace. It is way past time this whole rort was exposed for what it is. I am disgusted with National for continuing down this path. Pixie

*Maori are rorting NZ and politicians have not got the intestinal fortitude to say 'no'. Christine

*As long as NZ is hell-bent on having a racist society with statutary rights to groups, then there will always be those who claim more of NZ for themselves. Such claims cannot exist in a unified country, but does flourish in a divided, racist society. Acknowlege different cultures and values, but give no statutory recognition or special privileges - i.e. do not embed racism. Gert

*It just beggars belief that this procees has continued to the present day with no sign of it ending. Stuart

*Who has the backbone to end this sorry saga? Catherine

*Heck! It's LONG past time to end it. Walter

*Way past time! Peter

*No more claim payouts and as an urgent priority abolish the Maori seats immediately. John

*Time this political bullshit stopped. Andy

*The balance of power has been captured by the iwi elite. This needs to be changed. They should be put back in their place as equal citizens to everyone else. Terri

*The process is "something for nothing" - it must end!! Michael

*Of course, but can't see it happening in my lifetime - it is just too good for some. Graeme

*John Key would not recognise a principle if he fell over one and is quite happy to leave the business of treaty settlements to a minister who is gradually handing the whole country over to his Maori mates. John
