In the third decade of the twenty-first century, approaching 200 years since the formation of New Zealand, the country is divided by race; this ‘partnership’ is intended by its most determined supporters to result in apartheid, a dual system of government.
By putting the Māori view of nature in the single science gallery, Te Papa seems to promote the postmodernist ideas that there are no universal truths and that all knowledge is culturally derived. This confused and simplistic ideology seeks to undermine science and other narratives construed as Eurocentric and colonial.
My conclusion from the Maori wards figures is that Maori radicals are winning. They are winning because a growing share of the population are either too complacent to vote, or are swallowing the “partnership” narrative that is being parroted by the radicals - and the mainstream media.
It’s now time for those on the general roll to mobilise in the same way that the racial activists have mobilised the Maori roll. Start by voting today if you have not already done so. Then encourage everyone you know to vote also – let them know their future depends upon it. Continuing to sit on the fence is a luxury we can no longer afford.
The role of the neo-tribal Māori elite in promoting Māori Science has been crucial to the subject’s success. A relatively small, carefully selected grouping of those deemed to be “in the know” came to define what Māori Science was to be about and what it should include. They were able to achieve this with minimal input from the community they claimed to represent.
As a former dairy farmer I was shocked to learn that Fonterra is selling its brands’ business. Call it emotional attachment rather than hard-headed commercial reality. For all my dairy farming years I heard that we needed to be closer to our consumers, that branding was an integral part of extracting profit from product sales and that we needed to better understand what our customers wanted. We needed to own the food chain – ‘plough to plate’.
If the present journey is allowed to continue then National will have forfeited the trust of those voting it into office. The result will be that at the next election many loyal National voters will vote for a minority party and candidate. Either National will become the minority member of a coalition with ACT and NZ First, or the door will be open to a Labour, Green, Maori Party government which will allow the separatists to finalise their attack on our institutions.
The Kaipara District Council stands alone as the only council to disestablish its Maori ward. By doing so, it has avoided the need for the referendum that is about to be held by 42 other councils that introduced Maori wards without obtaining a mandate from the public before doing so. I spoke with Kaipara Mayor, Craig Jepson, about his experience with their Maori ward and why his council thought disestablishment was the appropriate path to take.
Paying able-bodied people to stay at home and not earn their living is probably the biggest social miscalculation of the last sixty years. Unwinding it won’t be easy. There will be howls of outrage led by those who farm poverty.
How has it come to pass that even an English-style “prep” school is in such obvious denial of its own heritage? What kind of societal pressure has led to such a school’s adopting a false Maori “persona”? And what does this signify in terms of the direction in which our country is heading?
